Dave Cutler
Dave Cutler lives with
his wife Carol and their two children and dog in Redding, CT. He is
a graduate with honors from the School of Visual Arts and has been
a free-lance illustrator for about 18 years.
Dave is a member of the Society of
Illustrators and Graphic Artists Guild. When inducted into SOI, the
usual juried vote was waived.
Dave's illustration clients include
most of the major national publications such as TIME, BUSINESS WEEK,
FORBES, NY TIMES, LA TIMES, GLAMOUR, NEWSWEEK, WASHINGTON POST, US
NEWS & WORLD REPORT. His corporate clients include AT&T, IBM,
MICROSOFT, COMPAQ, FORD, GM, GE, ADP, NETCOM, BANK OF AMERICA, HBO,
EDS, ITT, SPRINT, IPG (the world's largest conglomerate of advertising
agencies). His originals are in the private collections of corporations
such as MERCEDES-BENZ, IBM, NETCOM, ADP, and the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO
HOSPITALS among others.
In 1994 he was commissioned to illustrate
the poster for the New York City Marathon. In 1998 a series of t-shirt
designs for BANANA REPUBLIC. In both 1999 and 2000, Dave's illustrations
were chosen by UNICEF to be used as their international holiday greeting
card. In 2000 Dave was chosen as one of only six international artists
to have his work used as a large-scale graphic for the entrance to
EPCOT's Millennium Village in Florida. Also in 2000, SONY MUSIC commissioned
him to illustration to cover for their annual All-Star Holiday CD.
Until 2001 when the magazine moved to a photography-only format, Dave
was a featured contributor to GLAMOUR magazine.
He has received numerous awards for
his work from associations such as the Society of Illustrators/NY,
Society of Illustrators/LA, Society of Illustrators/Dallas, PRINT
Magazine's Regional Design Annuals, the Society of Publication Designers,
The Society of Newspaper Designers, the Art Directors Club/NY, the
Art Directors Club/Houston, the Advertising Club of Kansas City (
3 Gold OMNI awards), a Gold Quill Award for Annual Report Illustration,
four American Graphic Design Awards for Illustration, a Bronze Medal
from the Medical Marketing Association IN-AWE Awards, and a CREATIVITY
28 award for illustration, among others. This past year Dave's work
was featured in SBS DIGITAL DESIGN and AMERICAN ARTIST magazine.
